LaSaundra Booth, Director
LaSaundra Booth is an exceptional cellist, who started playing the cello in the fourth grade, and never stopped learning! She has over twenty years of performance experience. Mrs. Booth has performed with the Greensboro Philharmonia, Duke Symphony Orchestra, Durham Symphony, Raleigh Symphony, and completed a two week mini-tour in Sydney, Australia.
Mrs. Booth has a passion for not only playing instruments, but for nurturing the gifts and talents within others. Mrs. Booth is the founder of Integrity Strings, a registered music booking agency. She is also the founder and executive director of the Wake Forest Community Youth Orchestra (WFCYO), which is a not for profit 501 (c) 3 organization that provides string music education and instruments for Pre-K through 12th grade students.
Mrs. Booth studied with Jesse Suggs, Jr., Dr. Timothy Holley, Dr. Alexander Ezerman, and performed in a Master class with internationally renowned conductor, Benjamin Zander. Mrs. Booth has a B.A. in Instrumental Performance with a concentration in Cello from North Carolina Central University, a Master's in Music Education with a concentration in String Pedagogy from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and an Educational Specialist degree with a concentration in Educational Leadership. Mrs. Booth is currently in the dissertation phase of her doctoral degree program in Educational Leadership. Mrs. Booth is a licensed Music Educator, with thirteen consecutive years of teaching experience. Throughout her career she has established string programs for underserved youth, developed curriculum for non-profit music organizations, created partnerships with local businesses and universities, and served as the conductor and lead instructor for public, charter, and non-profit educational entities.
Mrs. Booth is currently the Director of Orchestra, Chorus, and Piano at Zebulon Magnet Middle School (Candis Jones, Principal). Mrs. Booth's accomplishments include a featured article and cover story on the 2008 edition of Opus magazine, recipient of the Horace Mann Continuing Educator Scholarship Award, a guest appearance on an episode of One Tree Hill, the WB network's hit television series, and a performance on Spiritual Awakenings, an inspirational television show. Mrs. Booth was interviewed by Tara Lynn, host of the WCPE Classical Radio Station, for her work with youth in the community. Mrs. Booth is an active member of Music Educators of North Carolina (MENC) and the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). She was recently elected as the the MENC District 3 President serving Franklin, Vance, Granville, Wake, and ten other Counties. Mrs. Booth was also selected by the School Band and Orchestra Magazines as one of "50 Directors Who Make A Difference."
One of the greatest gifts that Mrs. Booth has received and cherishes most is her family. Mrs. Booth is married to Michael Booth, and they have three beautiful daughters who enjoy singing, playing the violin, and going to church.
